I have just returned from the Melbourne Gift Fair. My mission was to source and purchase enough beautiful furniture and housewares for my 2 display homes. My mission was VERY,VERY successful and included these two very cute owls who decided to fly home with me..I had a hoot of a time!

now all I have to do is wait for all my boxes to arrive...hey !!!!

As the worlds worst Gardener, yes I killed my green thumb years ago...I have been asked to design the garden for one of my building design projects...even though I find this a greater challenge (house design is so much easier) I love that they have enough trust in me to design a beautiful garden ....

I hope you have had a wonderful Easter Break and didn't follow my example and EAT yourself Fat with chocolate....yumm

I have been enjoying beach life recharging, eating and relaxing long walks on the beach with my beautiful family and a crazy dog...

While we were away, the decision was made... it's time to rebuild our beautiful but very old beach house. She is about 40 years old and even though she has had a few nip and tucks over the years, its time. Queensland Beach houses of this generation were built out of shamphor board ( concrete board - i think the spelling is write?) and a wonky ruler, she is well passed the renovating stage... I actually love the floor plan and the beachy vibe so I intend to keep all her charm just newer with less dust.

as you would expect I have a file this (deep) full of ideas and ideas...I cannot wait to get started...

work! work! work!...lucky I LOVE my job otherwise the stress could get to me...this is one of my projects I am working on. This Home is all French Country and I cannot wait to see it finished...in the meantime...

This is the Kitchen...(well the space anyway) butlers pantry thought the right door and laundry

to the left....

the stair feature...( I had to work hard to get this feature, the builder had a very different idea...I am wrapped I won..and so are my clients...he! he!)

hidden under all the pink sheets is a beautiful bathroom cabinet French/Hampton's inspired...all the bench tops and mirrors have arrived on site and the tiler starts today...yeah!!!

and it looks like we finally have some sunshine for the weekend - time to get the kids outside and enjoy it..oxo Cate

I never thought I would ever blog about power points but I have to share this clever ideas from HPM. I would normally just paint over the coverplate when I paint a feature wall but HPM have gone one better and designed the Linea range of rainbow-hued switches and power points.

time to trade your Manolo Blahniks for Gumboots...please be careful walking the plank ...

this will be the Main staircase taking you from the basement up into the Living areas (level 1) and then to the Bedrooms ( level 2)

this staircase is for the tradesman aka husband, kids, dirt, surfboards, dirt and a like...

~ this way...

and here we have the 'secret staircase' which once finish will be hidden behind a secret panel in Mr LSH's Study. This will lead down to the 'man room' of a wine cellar, gym and grub room.

There has been 250 tons of concrete and 100 tons of steel to get our dream this far and yes I am Loving every minute of it. The Kids were skateboarding in the basement on Sunday while I daydreamed over the interiors and my Husband hosed...He loves hosing and was quite pleased with himself about being able to clean/hose for the first time...

My Pink Day

After dispatching the family off on their day, I thought it was time for a

'PINK DAY'

the rules are:

1. Under no circumstances is there allowed to be any testosterone...

2. Finishing a Magazine is a must. To be done without interruption...(except when thanking the waiter for your coffee.)

3. Definitely a few hot cups of coffee are involved...and finished

4. Grooming is a must, as there is shopping involved.

5. You are not going to be home in time for "pick up" (children from school) so alternate arrangement's will need to be made.

6. And someone else will have to make Dinner.

7. ENJOY...you don't have to engage in retail therapy (But its O.K if you do) just spending the time wondering the shops on your own will energize your 'pre- friezed holiday get kids back to school nerves'.

do you sometimes feel all tide up?

Its Lucky I only work "part-time !" because otherwise I would be having a nervous breakdown..!

with my kids now on school holidays ugh!! trying to finalise house plans etc for my wonderful clients, I go on Holidays in two weeks ( see note below re: Holidays) I am feeling very frizzed ... I know I need to breathe but I just don't have the time.... I wish I knew the "no I am really busy at the moment" word but I find it really had to knock back work and I'm feeling guilty for the lack or the amount of time I spend in Blogland but I love it. I think I need to invest in a "Alice"( re: Brady Bunch ) in the new year.

Holiday Plans 2009: 10 days of cruising the Pacific Islands with my in-laws...what was I thinking !!!

then...2 weeks at the Beach House...B & B ~ Bikini & Books

So all I need to do now is get all my jobs finished in the next two weeks, pack for the family, buy Christmas presents, stop spending so much money and then I can disappear
& find my Zen...

I still think I am dreaming but we finally started building my DREAM HOME...

but first...I had to get rid of the old house

....you would not believe the amount of things which NO longer worked in this house ~ as things were breaking NOTHING was being repaired...

I currently have designers block...how ironic, I can instantly imagine the finished look of the houses I renovate but now I am starting my own home my mind is blank...thank goodness for blogging ~ I definitely need somewhere to go to be re-inspired.

I have had such a positive couple of months, there has been so much good energy flowing my way. I still cannot believe we sold "the Boat House" before auction. It was adopted buy a Wonderful Family... LOVE at first sight. They adore the House & even took ALL the furniture. Settlement was today & I know they are celebrating as we speak !!! I however have my own house to pack & a rental to move into, so my celebrating will have to wait until Sunday night.

I am going to be off line next week due to moving & the re-connection of my Internet

...and I am totally in LOVE with this outdoor entertaining area. You will just fall in love with the dining room....Oh to live in Sydney (again...with harbour views this time..) to be able to spent endless amounts of money on things you love...houses, clothes ,shoes, family & friends ` not in this order off course!!!..but I think you understand...so this weekend I will continue to design my dream home, this time in this gorgeous colour, with this gorgeous hanging light..

These poor neglected Chandeliers have been decorating my children's play room for the past 5 years...they were in perfect condition back then but are now missing a few bits....I can image with a dust they would be very beautiful and shiny. We inherited them when we brought the house & I know the previous owners would have spent a bit on them...so what would they be worth now??? Having just finished 2 gorgeous White kitchens, I was thinking it might be time for a change...maybe more colour is needed for my next kitchen, perhaps in the island beach. I would also like to have more detail in the ceilings which are 2.7 height so I have lots of room to create something special..I hope

Oh...the weekend & even though this is were I would love to be ... I have a weekend full of 'open-houses', coffee & dinner with friends, I desperately need a cut OH !!! that reminds me...I still need to book the appointment, , clean 'The Boat House' ready for the open houses & clean My poor house ~ My house & I have come to an arrangement, I 'll stop saying we are going to demolish it & it will stop braking down on me!!! the hot water system blew up last week & Mr LSH is refusing to fix it !!! so I'm juggling showers between Gym & my Mums...HA! HA!.... just looking for the light at the end of the tunnel...

Dad celebrated his 70th Birthday last weekend and we had the most Wonderful Party for him.

My Precious Son wrote this beautiful speech for the Party and read it out in front of a room full of people...

Friday / mid-morning : Excited to see Carpet layers on site busy installing underlay..lots of noise ( good there working ! ) I take another quick look ( loving the colour) I leave to collect the last bits and pieces for my Electrician ..the carpet is cut and layout ready to be installed ~ see above picture.

Noon/ish : quick trip to lighting store...(O.K detour to McDonald's ~ loving their frozen coke at the moment and another detour to Sports Store ~ I really near some new gym gear!!!

Friday / afternoon : Arrived back to site NO NOISE ( they cannot be finished already ?)
all Carpet Layers and Carpet Salesman are huddled around carpet in powwow ~ not a good sign...

conclusion ~ FAULTY CARPET...

All credit to the Carpet Salesman ~ super professional, had the Carpet Company on the phone there and then...replaced and reordered new carpet without even stressing me out...

thank you!!!

However because the carpet wasn't installed, the Cleaner could not clean, the Plantation Blind Company cannot install my shutters, the delivery's I had arranged of this week will have to wait and my busy week of styling, Real Estate Agents and photos has now become not so busy....

But the Landscaper's are doing a wonderful JOP outside...there is green everywhere

I was going crazy!!!

I would have had this wall built in a day ..not 3... he hand selects every single piece of stone to create this masterpiece!!! Sure my wall would not have looked this good and perhaps it may have fallen down , I think, I need to give up any ideas of being a Stone Mason, I just don't have the patience ...( I would still love to give it a try.)

The Monday morning site meeting was so exciting, the carpet is being installed on Friday and the Cleaners start on the weekend ~ I am SO over the dust!!!!The Kitchen is nearly finished and I thought you would like to see some photos.

I am loving the detail on the columns. I forgot all about the glass detail between the columns so it was a extra special surprise when it was installed!!!

How cute are these draws!!

Look...you can see the handles!!! ( the Kitchen bling) the Fridge is going to be hidden on the left side behind the magazine rack, a huge walk-in pantry with glass doors is next to it and a office nook for Mum is on the right side.

I love how this Kitchen has come together and cannot wait to clean it !!!!!

I love the Architect ~ Cronduck...their eye for detail is amazing

thank goodness the weekend is here....I am going to sleep in ( my favorite thing) , read, clean my poor house ( my lest favorite thing) and enjoy this beautiful winter weather....(in Queensland we have the perfect winters.)

What a crazy week I been having, the Reno has been given a completion date so its all hands on deck. All those loose ends that have been piling up quietly in the corner all need to be completed, all of a sudden everyone wants everything NOW!!!! So the Plumbers, Painters, Electricians, Tilers and Me are all working hard to finish... especially Me (ha! ha!) because everything styling wise is either out of stock or not here until late September which is to late ...shopping can be soo tiring.

I am TOTALLY EXHAUSTED....So I think this means my weekend in Bowral (2 hours from Sydney) was a totally success...

Our Great hosts have the most Beautiful House. Every door in this house is from France and all slightly different... Gorgeous. The 'Christmas in July' Lunch/Feast was a traditional country affair. We Laughed and Danced into the early hours, until my cheeks were saw and my feet hurt...

This was our accommodation for the weekend, even though I didn't get to rest in here too much. The Barn is fun, one side is a work shop and the other a self contained flat...as their boys get older they are going to love this space.....O.K ...I am going back to bed now...

There is the beginning of my beautiful kitchen , the installers are hiding around the corner, what is it with men and not wanting to be in the picture?

at this angle you can see my magazine rack and there will be a t.v above it. The walls look very green this is definitely due to my poor camera skills not my poor paint selection.

I had to show you my mirrors in the Master ensuite. I love the nifty medicine shelves hiding behind the mirrors

this is the cabinet I had made for the Theatre room, the wall colour in here will be a dark latte including the carpet....there, I hope you have enjoyed my small tour! This is the best part of any project you finally get to see all your hard work, ideas and designs coming together... arg!!!

I am off to Sydney or rather its Southern Highlands for the weekend to catch up with some friends...so it is going to be a very busy weekend and very cold...cannot wait

Wow... I have been totally spoilt. Queenstown was amazing! We had perfect blue sky's, great snow, I improved my skiing a little BIT, did some great shopping and were invited to a Surprise Wedding. Our Friends decided to elope ( after being together for 13 years and 3 kids) so we felt very honored to be a part of their special and beautiful day.

The Reno has come along in leaps and bounds because I haven't been there for a couple of weeks I am amazed at how much they have been able to finish. The Kitchen is being installed tomorrow...very excited... cannot wait to see it, I wonder if my kitchen man would mind if he had an audience for whole morning?...

That's it...I am officially on holidays!!!

Did you guess my Holiday ? I am going to New Zealand skiing for my Winter holidays. Queenstown is in the South Island and is the Idyllic Ski Village. There has been piles and piles of snow...Now, if only I can just decide what to pack ( do you think 4 pairs of gorgeous boots are too much to take?) I plan to ski, eat pizza (completely guilt free...Not that I normally do!!) and try some of the yummy Kiwi Beers ...

Oh and definitely Champagne...

I was paid the most beautiful compliment today.

While shopping in Woolworth I ran into the new Owners of the last home I renovated. They are Absolutely LOVING their new home and while I do put my heart and soul into these Reno's it is so wonderful to see the new Owners LOVING their new home too!!! They brought all the furniture I use to style the Home and are doing a beautiful job adding their own personal touches...

So I had to come home and have another look at the photos...

and thought I would share some with you too!!

I thought it was about time to post some photos of the Reno, especially now because it is getting interesting...you will need to use your imagination but here is the Master ensuite, just for a moment imagine a beautiful freestanding peanut shaped bath, gorgeous tap ware, the marble floors in a creme colour (which is really stunning) the back wall is painted off-white and has 2 elegant wall lights on either side of the bath...

what a mess..OH I cannot believe I am showing you this but the Russian Tilers have arrived and boy are they messy, lucky for them they are brilliant tilers...so imagine the entry to the Master bedroom is through glass double doors, there is a Hampton style fire place to your right and a built-in morning kitchen/small study nook on the left with a mirrored wall, the bed and sitting area is behind me

Imagine a House in a French/Nautical theme, cocktails at sunset, waiters with white coats, silver trays, simple but elegant dining and that will be this House...!!
